Previously used as a horse paddock, Snettisham sits next to a well established neighbourhood of privately owned homes.
Architectural
The scheme was designed around a farmstead concept, with a principal ‘farmhouse’ as the focal point and part-timbered cottages positioned to the rear, creating a traditional yard layout. A new 'barn' style block was designed to accommodate four flats with four bungalows formed in what looked like a converted implement store.
An open fronted, timber framed structure provides covered parking, reinforcing the rural character. A carefully selected mix of materials, including brick garden walls, metal stock-and-rail fencing and native hedging, enhances the agricultural feel of the development.
All homes were designed to meet Scheme Development Standards, National Housing Quality Standards, and Secured by Design principles, and were delivered using Modern Methods of Construction.
Community
The project was well received by local residents and was awarded the Mayor’s award for Small Residential Development.
