Hartwell Way, Peterborough

Architectural, Quantity Surveying and Employers Agent services were delivered as part of the scheme.

This project earned a finalist position in the LABC Awards for Best Social or Affordable New Housing Development.

Affordable Housing Scheme

For this development, we converted a former public car park at Hartwell Way, Peterborough, into four shared ownership houses and twelve affordable rented flats. A new car park was constructed nearby, followed by a remodelling and refurbishment of the adjacent shopping area before work on the dwellings commenced.

Architectural
The dwellings were constructed using trench filled foundations with a suspended block and beam ground floor. The external walls were built with masonry brick and block construction, while the first floors featured timber construction for the houses and concrete construction for the flats. The roof structure was formed using prefabricated timber trusses, finished with concrete pantiles. All external windows were UPVC, with composite front and back doors installed in all dwellings.

The internal finishes included fully fitted kitchens and bathrooms, internal doors with ironmongery, full decoration and tiling, vinyl floor coverings in kitchens and bathrooms. The external works for the housing site featured a mix of permeable and impermeable block paving, new tarmac footpaths, and patios and landscaped garden areas.
